Wizards Team Report
(Sun, 05 Feb 2012 22:40:16 PST)

Wizards coach Randy Wittman knew better than to start rookie Jan Vesely against Blake Griffin when the L.A. Clippers came to D.C. to play the Wizards. Vesely still has that deer-in-the-headlights look about him at times, so Wittman opted to start Trevor Booker instead. But Booker got in early foul trouble, and Vesely had to come in halfway through the first quarter.

In the end, half of the Wizards frontcourt ended up in foul trouble as the realization sank in that they had three choices—get posterized by a Blake Griffin dunk, send him to the free throw line or just back off and let him score at will. JaVale McGee in particular spent more time than usual arguing with the officials hoping for calls that never came.

Tony Parker scored 42 points and broke the Spurs' franchise record for career assists, leading San Antonio to a 107-96 win over the NBA-best Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night. The Thunder (18-5) narrowly averted their worst loss this season, while the convincing win was just the springboard San Antonio needed before spending next three weeks on the road -- where the Spurs have hardly...

Griffin nearly gets triple-double in Clippers rout
(Sat, 04 Feb 2012 19:58:42 PST)
Blake Griffin fell two assists shy of a triple-double, and he didn't even play in the fourth quarter. It was that kind of dominating night for the Los Angeles Clippers, who rebounded from a disappointing loss in a big way, jumping on the Washington Wizards early and cruising to a 107-81 win. Griffin had 21 points, 11 rebounds and tied a season-high with eight assists to lead Los Angeles, but he...

Amir Johnson leads Raptors past Wizards
(Fri, 03 Feb 2012 20:06:25 PST)
TORONTO - Shame, illness and trouble at home were among the baggage the Toronto Raptors carried onto the court with them.

Barbosa, Johnson lead Raptors past Wizards 106-89
(Fri, 03 Feb 2012 19:48:34 PST)
Any signs of progress Wizards coach Randy Wittman had seen in recent games were entirely absent Friday night. Leandro Barbosa shook off flulike symptoms to score 19 points, Amir Johnson had 18 points and 13 rebounds, and the Toronto Raptors beat Washington 106-89, handing the Wizards their third straight defeat.

Magic snap skid with 109-103 win over Wizards
(Wed, 01 Feb 2012 20:27:45 PST)
The Orlando Magic came into Wednesday night playing dangerously poor basketball. For the losers of four straight games, injuries were mounting and morale was falling daily. Thankfully for the Magic, they got a visit from a Washington Wizards team that was struggling even more and hadn't won in Amway Center for a long time.

Rose scores 35 to lead Bulls over Wizards 98-88
(Mon, 30 Jan 2012 20:10:36 PST)
Fresh off an embarrassing performance Sunday in Miami, Derrick Rose couldn't wait to make up for it a day later. And, boy, did he ever. Rose scored a season-high 35 points to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 98-88 win over the Washington Wizards on Monday night. It came a day after the reigning league MVP missed two key free throws and a possible game-tying jumper in the final 30 seconds in a...

Blatche was injured in Saturday's win in Charlotte. After an MRI exam, he was advised to stay off his feet.

The Knicks…After 20 Games: A Fan’s View (Yahoo! Contributor Network)
(Mon, 30 Jan 2012 15:29:00 PST)
A few weeks ago, a review of the first 10 New York Knick games brought a mixed bag of reactions. They were 6-4 at the time, had lost a few absolutely brutal games at home, but rebounded to defeat several similarly terrible teams, doing so unimpressively for the most part.

(Mon, 30 Jan 2012 11:25:28 PST)
DeSagana Diop has been in the NBA since 2001. He's a professional that is paid to play basketball and, occasionally, shoot (if not make) free throws. Making 8 of 10 puts him at the top of the line at his position. … Continue reading ?

(Sat, 28 Jan 2012 20:24:06 PST)
The Washington Wizards may have found the recipe for winning this season: playing the Charlotte Bobcats. Well, that and a balanced offensive attack. The Wizards (4-16) defeated the Bobcats for the second time in four nights Saturday 102-99 as six players scored in double digits, including JaVale McGee, who led the way with 22 points and 10 rebounds.

(Fri, 27 Jan 2012 21:04:48 PST)
Chase Budinger stayed patient and quiet, while Houston coach Kevin McHale left him on the bench over the past three games. With leading scorer Kevin Martin injured on Friday night, Budinger made the best of his chance to play again. The Rockets' backup forward sank four 3-pointers and scored a season-high 21 points and Houston blew out Washington 103-76 on Friday night.

With things going from bad to worse for the Washington Wizards, something had to be done. After a disastrous outing on Monday night in Philadelphia, in which they were blown out by 20 points (and should have lost by 30), head coach Flip Saunders was fired the following day.

Wizards beat Bobcats 92-75 in Wittman's first game
(Wed, 25 Jan 2012 19:58:51 PST)
Randy Wittman didn't sleep on Tuesday night. Excited and nervous about his debut as Washington Wizards coach, Wittman couldn't wait to get started. His players couldn't wait, either. The Wizards led throughout the game and blew out the woeful Charlotte Bobcats 92-75 on Wednesday night. Washington is still just 3-15, but after the Wizards quickly built a 20-point lead and didn't blow...

(Tue, 24 Jan 2012 10:28:00 PST)
Over the past week, it appeared that the Washington Wizards were maturing as a ball club. They were playing more team oriented basketball, which lead to a victory over the NBA leading Oklahoma City Thunder. They were no longer getting blown out by every opponent they played.
