A Dutch appeals court has ruled Louis van Gaal cannot become CEO of Ajax, a victory for board member Johan Cruyff who had fought to have Van Gaal's appointment overturned. The ruling was the latest twist in an acrimonious boardroom battle at the four-time European champion between Cruyff and four other supervisory board members.

D.C. United have signed midfielder Marcelo Saragosa, who returns to MLS after two seasons in Azerbaijan. The 30-year-old Brazilian will be playing for his fourth MLS club.
